| Purpose |
The Portal screen is the gateway to the Virginia Immunization Information System (VIIS). In addition to accessing VIIS, the portal also provides users access to important forms, hot topics, contact information, and related links.
Described below is the required information for access as well as other provided information on the portal screen.

To log into the Virginia Immunization Information System you must enter your Organization Code, User name, and Password.
If you do not have an existing VIIS login, you must contact your administrator to obtain one. Specific protocol must be followed when first establishing a password or when a password is reset.
Passwords must be between 8 and 20 characters in length and must contain 3 of 4 criteria.

Combination of upper and lower case letters
The previous 24 passwords may not be used. If you enter one of the previous 24 passwords this message appears:
“Validation Error: Password you are attempting to save has been used previously. Please re-enter a new password.”
If you do not enter VIIS every 60 days your account will move to ‘disabled’ status. Every 90 days your password will expire and it must be updated.
You have 10 opportunities to enter the correct password, user name, or organization code combination. After the tenth incorrect attempt you will be locked out of VIIS for 15 minutes.
The message:
“You have entered the incorrect Organization Code or password. Please wait 15 minutes before reattempting. If you have forgotten your log-in information or cannot access your account for any reason, contact your VIIS administrator. If you are the administrator, please contact the help desk at 1-866-375-9795 or viis_helpdesk@vdh.virginia.gov” will appear on the screen.”
User name and the new password cannot match.
The new password and confirmation password must be identical.
Once you have been authenticated by the system you will be taken to one of three places:
If you only have one organization you will be automatically logged into the VIIS as the organization.
If you have more than one organization you will see a list of your organizations you have access to. Click on the organization you wish to access to enter VIIS.
To log out of the Virginia Immunization Information System you can click the Logout link from any screen.
To use the Top Menu, move your mouse cursor over the desired section. As the cursor hovers over the menu, a drop list will appear allowing you to jump to specific location or open a file directly. Clicking on the menu tab will open the corresponding page.
