Change My Password

 Purpose

The change my password screen exists so that, at any time, the user currently logged into the registry may update his/her login password. The user invokes the changing of his/her password by clicking the 'Change My Password' hyperlink located under the Manage My Account menu group.

 Functionality

For verification purposes, the change my password screen displays the 'User' and 'Username'.

  1. Click on the 'Change My Password' hyperlink located under the Manage My Account menu group.

  2. Type in a new password.

  3. Confirm the spelling of the new password by carefully typing it a second time in the 'Confirm New Password' text box.

  4. Click the Save button to update the database with the new password.

 Results

If the new password and its confirmation are entered identically, your password will be updated. The registry will give confirmation by displaying the following message: "** Password Updated **".

If the new password or confirmation password do not meet all of the rules, the password will not be updated. Instead, an error message will be displayed. If this occurs, other attempts to update your password may be attempted until you successfully change the password.

Rules for changing a password:

  1. The password chosen must be at least four characters in length.

  2. The new password can not match the current password.

  3. Username and the new password can not match.

  4. The new password and confirmation password must be identical.
